How Do You Know If You Have Sleep Apnea?
The best way to determine if you are experiencing sleep apnea is to see your doctor who can refer you for a sleep study. As well, ask your family members if they notice any breathing disruption while you sleep.
If you know that you have sleep apnea and are concerned about the risks commonly associated with the condition, see your doctor and request the following blood tests to assess your probability or future concern: fasting blood sugar and, most importantly, fasting blood insulin, as well as triglycerides, homocysteine and cholesterol levels. Ensure regular monitoring of your blood pressure and body weight.
